Here We GO!!!

As of December 1st my insurance kicked in. Today I actually got my card in the mail. I was SO HAPPY! Usually I hate mail like that but not my pretty new insurance card. I am in love!

I also made my consult appointment. You won't believe how quick I got in. I called Monday and was in Wednesday. YEP! I was over the moon. The consult was fine. D went with me replacing Grumps. I need an extra pair of ears sometimes. Too many appointments alone, too many overwhelmed moments. My doc was so funny about her being there. He gave her eye contact and even asked if she "Grumps" had any questions.

I was a little disappointed. Going into the consult I was on day 1. I was hoping to squeeze in an IUI this month. With out enough time for my insurance to consent, it was a no go. Cool, fine, if I have waited this long I can wait one more month. He did want to do day 3 bloodwork and u/s. No waiting here, I booked it for today.

SO I was SO excited about starting my Friday/weekend off with a nice wanding! I prepared myself this morning. I felt I should give the tech the pleasure of shaved legs. I have turned to winter mode and decided to just not shave until I have too. Then my thoughts went to one of the DC bloggers conversations from last weekend. We talked about all we do for our u/s. I talked about making sure my 'girl' was taken care of. Everyone thought that wasn't necessary. They said the tech never looks. Well why waste that time on no eyes. So I didn't groom her like I usually do. (I know, too much info but there is a reason for it.)

As I am waiting to start my Friday, sitting in the waiting room, texting work, I see my doctor. I think he was surprised to see my face so soon. I didn't want to wait until next month and they find something wrong. OK this story is getting out of control long. Moving along. I go disrobe from the waist down when in walks my doc. My first thoughts, MY GIRL ISN'T PREPARED! He has never seen my girl. He just talks to me and gives me wisdom. I am hoping he is just going to watch.

NOPE! He makes small talk about how nice it is to see me so soon. He asked where my friend was and why she didn't come with me. THEN he moves in. He lifts the paper and LOOKS AT MY GIRL! I am freaking out. I know he has seen it all. I understand it isn't a big deal but it really is for me. THEN he continues to stare as he puts the wand in. I felt like it was an eternity with his eyes checking out my jewel. Then he starts to tell a joke. The man is always serious. Not this morning, he wants to chat it up with me while I am being wanded!

I know, stupid post but my mind can't leave it. He saw my girl not very pretty this morning. We connected over a joke. He warned me there would be pressure. I am not a virgin in any way shape or form. I think we are now in love. HA!

Maybe I will be wanded next month on day 3. I will make sure my girl is looking pretty.

OH how funny. We just had this "talk" at lunch today with a few VERY close friends. I am sorry that you were a lil traumatized. I'm sure he never even noticed a thing. I mean, how many of those a week does he see ?? nasty thought huh

honey, i'm a big believer in landscaping - i've never been "wanded" but i've had my share of gynecological traffic. i know they've seen it all, couldn't care less, but i do. >: )

I always worry about the grooming too, just can't help myself. Recently it has become too much work so I'm figuring they can just deal with it 'au natural' at the hospital. I'm sure they truly have seen it all so we shouldn't worry about it!

OH SUNNY! I have a wand story for you ! I went in for an 11 week and they could not see anything (minor panic) so they did a wand sono for 1.5 hours. I'm sure it was nothing compared to your "sex with an elephant" experience, but seriously the most uncomfortable sono of my life! I had real contractions afterward. I'm with you on the nether regions, I keep mine nice until I can't see it anymore. :)

Yeah!!! We shall throw a "Welcome New insurance card" party on tuesday over dinner.

And your story about u/s is so funny!!! I would have died if my doc saw me ungroomed. We're so stupid - like they care!!!

I don't care how many of 'those' they see in a day, I'm always concerned with my grooming! For some reason, I think I'm slightly more paranoid when I have an appt with a female dr, too - hm, is that weird? Probably! Ha!

What's funny is for my uterine surgery #3, coincided w/ a cancelled brazilian wax appointment.

Just in case you aren't hip to the waxing, you have to let it grow OUT before a good wax. Not enough growth, not a good wax. So I schedule at 5-6 weeks out each time and this appointment was at the 6w mark. Definitely in time for a wax. I hate the week before a wax because it's just too much. And then my waxer cancelled on me! Another week. OMG.

Fast forward to my surgery. It was at the 7 week mark, with the appt 2 days later. I was mortified. The nurses were all asking me if I had any questions and all I could do was tell each one of them my issue. Each one laughed and said it was no big deal - they get them all. BUT I WASN'T ONE OF THOSE! Sure, they get them all - they get the 1970 AFRO, but that's not what I usually am! I obviously have hair issues if I subject myself to a brazilian wax every 5 weeks!! Ugh. So I keep getting the next "set" of meidcal people. The pre-op nurse. The nurse. The surgery room staff. In fact, it was the last thing I told them as they put me to sleep. "I HAVE A WAXING APPT In two days.....".

Want to make a bet on 1) how much they laughed at me once I fell asleep and 2) they probably all looked at me down there even more because I made such a big deal??

Sorry this was so long. Just reminded me of that story!

So funny--I also had gone into winter mode and I told Josh that it was such a pain in the ass that I now have to schedule leg shaving back into my world.

I love that you call it "my girl."

I am well into winter mode and was not prepared for our hastily schedule trip to FL this weekend.

And don't worry too much, Dr G did my IUI last month and I was sooooo not prepared!

An ugly girl with a pretty haircut is still an ugly girl! There is a reason they call it "bumping uglies."
When I worked at the STD clinic, and postpartum we laughed at thee "girls" with the wild landscaping. Nobody ever mentioned the ones that were overgrown. However, if it makes you more comfortable to mow the lawn, by all means, go right ahead! :)
