Making Amends

Do you remember my mom?

Well I guess she realized her insensitivity. I got a call from her yesterday asking if I would be home today. She was sending me something. A surprise. It arrived today in a long box.
The note said something about making my day and how God had something good coming my way soon.

We will never be able to 'talk' about my problem but at least she realizes when she should be more sensitive. I am pretty impressed!

Yay for your mom! I'm so glad she gets that she's not been there for you.

Your loss is her loss, too, and maybe she just can't get past her own grief to help you deal.

My own mom read my Drama 2B Mama blog yesterday and called me in tears, feeling so badly that she wasn't there for me all those years ago. She's so silly -- I was living 6000 miles away and I never felt she wasn't right beside me.

She was sad that I was so devastated and there was nothing she could do.

The roses are lovely. I'm sure they made your day!

hoooray for mom! Sometimes people justs CAN'T talk about the serious issues, and that can be frustrating, but at least she's demonstrating that, on SOME level, she "gets" it.

my mom has never said sorry to any of her kids in her life - but, she tries to make it up with "gifts". when i first got married she was particularly "off track" & would give me a bag of green peppers after an argument or fight b/c she knew my husband liked them. flowers are way better. : )

Ahh, that was nice of her to do...and realize. I think it's especially hard dealing with infertility and family, at the same time. There is so much pressure on a couple to bring in grandchildren, and sometimes family members don't realize that pressure. I will just try to educate my family more, I guess. It was a very sweet gesture of your mother to do. :-)

I am extremely impressed with mum! I think it's more important that someone turns around and essentially apologizes or reaches out than getting it right the first time. I mean, getting it right the first time is nice, but no one is perfect :-)

Aww.. those are sweet. She definitely sensed you needed her support. Just like you feel like you couldn't talk with her about it, she might feel the same way. I think this shows though that she loves you and supports you.

What beautiful flowers! I'm glad you're mom realized the need for support not just a warm body on the other end of the line. BTW, if you like mystery, have you read Ted Dekker books? Absolutely awesome author.

Hey, thanks for clicking and finding me. It really helped a lot and made me feel not so alone anymore. How sweet was your mom's gesture! I also have difficulty with my mother at times (she always references her difficulties with my birth-- but DUH, I'm alive which is so not the same thing as a MC!) but it has gotten much better.

Your mom seems to speak the language of flowers better than any other language.

Wow, I am impressed. That was a great way to make up some ground for not really being there when you needed her the other day.

Enjoy those flowers!

What a sweet gesture! Sounds like your mom might be coming around, and maybe she just doesn't know what to say. But, you certainly aren't alone. My mom just doesn't get it either.

I'm glad she was able to show you a gesture of compassion and love. Hopefully it will be a new beginning and you will be able to share more of your thoughts and feelings with her, soon.

Wow, your mom might not know how to deal with IF (my mom had a hard time too), but at least she knows how to let her daughter know she cares!

Hey Sunny!

Thanks for your comments on my blog! I've just caught up on yours. Wow. Tough stuff. I cried three times. Your Mum... well, it is great she tried to mend her actions. I'd love to know what is going on in her head! It is hard with family, because I think we have higher expectations of them than anyone else, and they invariably don't come anywhere meeting the expectations. I hope her faith grows through this experience, as much as yours does.

Good for her. And thank you for your notes to me, I know you went through exactly the same thing, with exactly the same progression of events, so I very much valued your condolences. I hope you're doing OK.
