First Ultra Sound Results

I went in this morning for my ultra sound to see how my follicles were doing. My ovaries really responded well to the drugs. In fact they over responded. I have 7 follicles forming. We really want to see only 2 to continue to develop.

My hormone levels are all good and stable so I am not doing any more injections. They want me to come in tomorrow morning for another u/s to see how things have developed. IF we do the IUI it is looking like the middle of the week. But I say IF because they don't want to do an IUI with so many follicles at my age. If I was 41 they would because many of the follicles wouldn't develop completely. If we were to change our minds and do IVF we have amazing follicles for it.
So here are my prayer requests... that my follicles would really just develop to a couple and not 7. My levels would continue to be stable and not get out of control. Finally Grumps is having to work 6am to 2pm during the middle of the week. They only do his part of the process in the morning. We could go to drive to the furthest RE office to have things done if that is the case and they can work with us OR they can freeze a sample.

I really don't want this cycle cancelled. I know that God has His perfect plans. I want them for sure.

Has anyone else had this happen to them? What did you do? UGH! Is all I can say. I so don't want this cycle to be cancelled. I keep thinking if I say that over and over again my body would hear it and do the right thing!

Praying. Holding your hope for you. Walking in faith. Love you!

As one who has never had the "luck" of growing too many follicles I can't make any suggestions either way. However, I guess that doesn't bar me from giving my opinion.

If all 7 look like they will mature, I would go to IVF. If you don't feel like making that investment, you will have to either go IUI or cancel. Just be prepared to answer your RE's question on whether or not you would selectively reduce if you decide to do an IUI.

My first IUI produced 5 follicles, and my second produced 6. That was after 5 days of 150 mg Clomid plus 2 days of some injectible. Neither on worked because my lining was crud. My third IUI produced only 2 follicles, on 6 days of injectibles, no Clomid. My lining was great, but it didn't work. I went for it with high follicles because of my age (39) and the fact that I was willing to do selective reduction. My only advice to you is that your heart will tell you what to do.

I also have 7 follicles growing, although only 3 of them are almost definitely making it to ovulation. The others were in the 11-12mm range Friday morning and we triggered on Saturday evening after 9 days of injections - have no way of knowing how many of the 7 matured. My clinic will allow you to have 5-7 follicles before they cancel you, and we are also willing to do selective reduction so we're good to go. Perhaps if you are willing to do selective reduction if needed, they will allow you to continue? Unless at risk for OHSS.

Can you do another post and let us know what the different sizes were of your follicles? If they aren't all within a 2-3 mm of each other, there's a decent chance they won't all make it to maturity together....

Either way, good luck!
